Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions is seeking an experienced Cloud Architect to join a high-performing team developing cloud-based solutions for the Retail industry. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing cloud-based architectures and solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in cloud computing and a proven track record of developing scalable and reliable cloud-based systems. You will work closely with our development teams to create high-level and detailed technical design documents, build cloud prototypes, and conduct experiments to evaluate alternative architectures. Responsibilities

  • The Cloud Architect must have a broad technical background with extensive experience in designing, deploying, and supporting cloud-based solutions.
  • The candidate must have strong cloud technology and analytical skills, teamwork, and excellent communication skills. The candidate will also need to communicate at different levels in the organisation with other technical roles, business leaders, and customers.
  • The candidate will participate in the Architectural Review Boards with technical leaders across the organisation to ensure technical alignment, consistent design principles, architectural roadmaps, conceptual architecture documents, practices, tools, and technologies. They will cement solid, reliable, and scalable cloud solutions for our customers.
  • Generate internal white papers on standard design and approaches.
  • Collaborate with the infrastructure team and product managers to design cloud solutions.
  • Perform code contributions, code reviews, and maintain high coding and quality standards.
  • Research innovative cloud technologies, best practices, and current industry trends, and facilitate their adoption by the team.
  • Ensure quality and efficiency of the cloud architecture and the source code.
  • Interact with stakeholders such as technical project managers and product managers as appropriate to discuss product functionality, performance, plans, and field support escalations.
  • Identify and resolve problems, gaps, and challenges in the cloud engineering processes.
  • Evaluate and recommend Azure services and tools to meet business needs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience building and supporting cloud-based systems.
  • Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure is a must, AWS or Google Cloud Platform is nice to have) and the ability to manage highly available and scalable infrastructure.
  • Strong expertise in automation tools and practices (CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins, IaC tools such as Terraform).
  • Solid understanding of containers and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless computing.
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring, alerting, and observability tools (Datadog is a must, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc. are optional).
  • Experience in scripting tools, such as Python, Bash or PowerShell
  • Knowledge of cost optimisation strategies for cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong experience with large-scale distributed systems and high-availability architectures.
  • Strong experience with multi-region, multi-cloud deployments.
  • Knowledge of cloud security principles and identity management (Azure AD, RBAC).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and customers.
  • Good knowledge of Linux/Unix systems administration and networking concepts (DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing).
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and functions.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with retail technologies.
  • Software development / Cloud-related certifications.
