Cloud Database Architect for Toshiba

We are looking for a Cloud Database Architect to take ownership of database design, create and manage large databases including architecture on our Azure cloud infrastructure. This includes functional and technical design, architecture, capacity planning, reliability and availability, fault tolerance, automation, disaster recovery and failover, performance optimization, database deployment and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Researching the technical requirements of the company (all applications / products).
  • Designing and implementing data model and database schema, ensuring data elements are designed and built with security as its focus.
  • Setting data standards for operations, programming, and security.
  • Define and implement data retention and isolation policy with advanced knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (SQL, PostgreSQL, Mongo, Mongo-Atlas, Cosmos).
  • Analytical and organizational skills to develop and implement databases for businesses.
  • Expertise on SaaS projects, Azure Control Plane, Azure Data Plane and Application Plane.
  • Define and implement data retention and isolation policy on Cloud data lakes on Azure such as Blob Store, Cosmos, etc. with audit, optimize, write database scripts and commands.
  • Define Monitoring & Reporting, Metrics object, Backup & Recovery, Advanced User Management, Optimized Resource allocation & scaling, Advanced Security Management, Define & Implement GDPR data requirements.
  • Able to mentor software teams helping with their architectural design.
  • Advises and reviews technical designs, implementations, and tests across multiple small-to-medium projects or a large project.
  • Interfaces with internal & external teams to ensure alignment of deliverables.
  • Mentor junior engineers, reviews code, and grow technical leadership skills across the organization. Conducts knowledge-sharing or training sessions.
  • Consults on and/or reviews release notes, test plans/cases, and functional specifications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
  • Lead data architecture requirement and recommend usage of appropriate database and database management technology. Lead data modeling and database design. Formulate choice points, identify requirements, and make recommendations.
  • Define standardization of usage and best practices, compliance (GDPR), definition of backup and disaster recovery. Participate in database vendor selection, evaluation, installation, and proof-of-concept Provide guardrails for compliance, security, and integrity.
  • Database server and database administration of relational and No-SQL databases including MongoDB, Microsoft SQL server, PostgreSQL. Install, configure, and maintain database system software to support the needs of the business in providing excellent service to Toshiba’s developers, partners, and customers.
  • Capacity planning, sizing, budgeting and usage reporting of database usage and configurations.
  • 5+ years of Database Architect experience, including Linux and cloud/enterprise content.
  • Experience executing within Agile development environment.
  • Proficiency with code versioning tools like Git, etc.
  • Proficiency with Windows- and Linux-based operating systems, including software installation, light administration, and simple scripting.

The product is aimed at comprehensive retail chain automation and covers all work processes of large retail chain operators. The product covers retail store management, warehouse management, payment systems integration, logistics management, hardware/software store automation, etc.
The product is already adopted by the market, and the biggest US and global retail operators are among the clients.
